Carpets add a lot of class to any home or business thanks to their rich colors and patterns. But, maintaining them can be difficult, especially if things accidently get spilled on them such as food or water. While food can be vacuumed off from your carpet and water spills can dry off on its own, there are items that can make the toughest stains on your carpet.
So, what do you do if your carpet gets tough stains? How can you clean them? Here are our tips on how you can clean these stains out of your carpet. You can also read more in this article about how accidents happen and how we can help.
No matter where it gets stuck into, chewing gum is a nightmare to take off. When it gets stuck in the carpet, it will stick itself into the fibers and make it hard for you to get off without damaging that part of your carpet.
To remove chewing gum from your carpet, you can freeze it off with ice cubes. When it is rock solid, you can slowly peel it off from your carpet.
Red wine definitely stains surfaces thanks to its distinct color and if it gets in your carpet, it will bleed and cause a larger stain to develop.
When the wine spills on your carpet, get a sponge with cold water to dab the area. The sponge will collect the excess wine from your carpet. Once the excess is removed, use a red wine stain remover and let it sit for five minutes. Keep using the remove until the stain is gone and just remove the excess solution with a cloth.
If you don’t have a red wine stain remover, you can combine a tablespoon of liquid dish soap, one tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. You can spray the mixture to the affected area and wait for it to dry. Once it is dry, you can sponge the area with cold water to wash the area and let it dry.
Do not use white wine to clean up the stain because it will only cause more problems for your carpet.
Like red wine, coffee can make stubborn stains on your carpet if they get spilt. It can also cause your carpet to smell badly the longer it stays there.
To remove these stains from your carpet, you can use baby wipes to clean the area. Once the excess is removed, you can then dab a sponge that has a mixture of white vinegar, washing up liquid and warm water on the stained area.
Ink is very difficult to remove on any surface if it gets spilled into them, especially if the ink in question is black. In carpets, it can definitely cause problems, especially if you have a light colored carpet.
Use a cotton pad and use it to dab alcohol on the affected area. The alcohol will siphon the ink into the cotton pad and keep dabbing alcohol in the area until the stain is gone. If you have a nail polish/varnish remover, you can use that too to siphon the ink out of your carpet. To protect your carpet from damage, you can rinse the area with a vinegar and warm water mixture. Once the stain is gone, clean it with water and let it dry.
Shaving cream can also be used to remove the ink stain. Let the cream sit for 15 minutes and scoop it out. You can then dab the area with the same vinegar and warm water mixture above to remove
Whether you get cut by something or you experienced a simple nosebleed, the blood may get on your carpet. When it does hit your carpet, it can be difficult to remove especially as it dries off completely.
When the blood dries down, you can use a steel brush to brush it and then clean off the stain with a cold water and detergent mixture. If the blood is still fresh, you can simply remove it with cold water and detergent.
Finally, mud can seep into your carpet’s fabrics and can be a pain to remove when it dries down. You can easily clean it down by letting it dry first. When the mud is dry, you can vacuum any loose dirt that comes off easily. If there is still mud remaining, you can clean it with detergent and warm water.
